There’s something about seeing the merge of the old and the new 🤩

An office space is being remodeled here in Sioux Falls, and we are loving seeing it come to life!

The second floor of this office/shop building was hit pretty significantly with some water damage a couple years ago. The layout of the space was also no longer functional for the users.

The goals during the design process were to create an open work environment, add private offices, create collaborative spaces, update and expand the restrooms, and update all interior finishes.

The space already feels so much more open and functional as we walk through! Stay tuned for progress and the final look.

Naming a business can be challenging, but for me it was easy!

People often ask where '616' comes from in the name Studio 616. It's a very important date in my life! On June 16th, 2023, my husband and I welcomed our first baby into the world. When she was about three months old, I realized time was going to fly by with her, and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible while she's little.

I'd always had an itch to become an entrepreneur architect, and she was the perfect inspiration to make that happen. So I felt it was only fair to have her inspire the name of the business!

On Sunday, we celebrated her FIRST birthday and my feelings were confirmed that time really does fly 🥺

Working with an existing space is equally exciting and challenging. We recently wrapped up the design phases of an office remodel that will begin construction soon here in Sioux Falls, SD.

As a way to kick-start the project, I met with the owners on site and discussed their various needs and desires for their new workplace. We talked everything from types of spaces they will need, to the various textures they were looking for in the materials, to branding elements they wanted to incorporate throughout.

After this discussion, it was important to me to make sure we were all on the same page regarding the design direction, so I put together some design inspiration images to show them. Once I was told I "hit the nail on the head", we were able to move forward with the design of their space - the fun part. 🤩

Inspiration imagery can be tricky. It should be used cautiously on the designer's part, and should be taken with a grain of salt by the owner. Its intent is in the title - inspiration.

As a designer, I work with my clients to tease out the elements of the inspiration images that speak most to them, and then we move forward with finding ways to incorporate similar concepts into the design.
